The Martindale VIPD150-S contains the VI-15000 voltage indicator and the PD690SRD proving device, enabling you to comply with health and safety recommendations for safe working.
Nothing is more dangerous than trusting a defective voltage indicator to test for a dead circuit. Safe electrical work requires the use of a voltage indicator that has been proved with a proving device before and after use.
The Martindale VIPD150 contains the VI-15000 voltage indicator and the PD690 proving device, enabling you to comply with health and safety recommendations for safe working.
The new VI15000 has a 1000V CATIV safety rating and LED indication for AC/DC voltages from 50V to 690V and above, ensuring compliance with health and safety recommendations for safe working in all BS EN61010 installation categories. It’s the simplest and most reliable way to ensure circuits have been de-energised and properly isolated prior to maintenance and modifications. Based on the industry endorsed VI3800, the new CATIV design not only provides improved protection against voltage transients, but also includes a high wattage resistor that will limit the current in the event of damage to the cable in accordance with BS EN61243-3. The protection is built in where it’s needed, in the handheld probe assembly rather than just in the instrument providing superior protection for the user to other testers.
The heavy duty, double insulated cable, large finger guard and a retractable, lockable prod sheath make this the safest, most durable and reliable instrument of its type.
The PD690 proving device produces 700V AC/DC to enable voltage indicators and other devices with ranges up to 700V to be checked. It is a portable, battery powered proving unit with the option of being driven from a 12V supply via a car or mains power supply. The kit is supplied with a combination carry case for both VI and PD products.
The new VI-15000 extends Martindale’s range of industry standard voltage indicators into higher voltage applications.

Fully compliant with HSE GS38 regulations, the VI-15000 comes complete with heavy duty two layer double insulated leads with a contrasting inner sheath to easily highlight cable damage. The tester features bright LEDs to clearly identify the voltage present in five levels with thresholds of up to 690V. The indicator, which requires no batteries, will identify both AC and DC sources and show polarity.
The heavy duty, double insulated cable, large finger guard and a retractable, lockable prod sheath make this the safest, most durable and reliable instrument of its type.
Designed in Martindale’s distinctive yellow casing with a clear blue label, to make it easily distinguishable from the existing lower voltage VI13800, the new VI-15000 is available to purchase on its own or as part of a kit containing everything you need for on-site working. Kits includes a high voltage Martindale proving unit, combination carry case and locking off devices, enabling full compliance with health and safety recommendations for safe working which require voltage indicators to be proved before and after use and the point of isolation to be locked off with a caution notice.
The Martindale PD690 is a 700V AC proving device, designed to enable voltage indicators to be fully checked, in compliance with Health & Safety recommendations. Using a voltage indicator without first proving it is working correctly could prove fatal.
This device is designed for indicators with 230V and 415/440V AC detection ranges, such as the Martindale VI13800. The proving unit is one of the few designs to check indicators with ranges above 250V.
The PD690 can also check Drummond and other filament test lamps as its output is sufficient to illuminate the bulb. This model is not designed for use with multimeters.
There is now a facility to power the PD690 proving devices with the addition of a 12V DC power connection point. The units can be powered by either alkaline batteries or a 12V power supply. There are two power supply units available for the proving devices, the PSUPD230 and the PSUHPAT12. The PSUPD230 can be connected to mains power and the PSUHPAT12 is a 12v power supply suitable for use in a car/van cigarette lighter.
